As part of our department's continuing efforts to improve our available resources for student organizations, development has started on a new version of our online student organization management system, StuAct Online.
During the development process, you will notice some new features on your organization's StuAct Online profile. A basic outline of each of the new features is below. If you have any other questions, please contact our team at student-activities@tamu.edu.
- More Advisor and General Officer Positions
Does your organization have more than two advisors and/or more than ten general officers? StuAct Online now supports up to 10 advisors and up to 30 general officers on your organization's roster. To take advantage of these new positions, contact our department's Recognition team. - Special Permissions for Officers
If one or more of the general officers in your organization need access to special features (like profile editing, SOFC statements, or web/e-mail account information), advisors and student leaders can now give them permission to access these features. To access this feature, click the "Special Permissions" button on the organization's roster page. - Phase-Out of Member Tracking
In order to better focus our features around helping organization advisors and leaders more effectively manage their group online, we will be phasing out the member tracking feature in organization rosters and replacing it with new recruitment tools for officers. Visitors to an organization's "Add to My Organizations" page now see the follow-up request feature described below, and current organization members will be removed from organization rosters on December 1. - Organization Follow-Up Requests
A new option is available in your organization's public profile: "Allow Follow-Up Requests". If this option is enabled, visitors to your organization's "Add to My Organizations" page will see a button that they can click to submit a request for more information directly to the organization's Chief Student Leader. The message will automatically include the name, phone number, and e-mail address of the visitor, who can also specify a message to include with the request. - "Available to Volunteer" Profile Option
Both personal profiles and organization public profiles now include an option that allows you to specify if you or your organization would be willing to volunteer during a campus emergency, such as a hurricane. This information helps us greatly when coordinating our volunteer efforts during campus emergencies. - Extra Communications from Student Activities
Depending on your role in student organizations, the department will only notify you of essential information, news and updates. You can now opt-in to receive additional updates, involvement and development opportunities, and other helpful information from our department. - Support for Avatars
StuAct Online now supports avatars powered by Gravatar. An avatar is a small picture that uniquely identifies you across the web. To add your picture as an avatar, sign up for an account through Gravatar using the same e-mail address you use as your primary e-mail in our system; our system will automatically use the avatar you set up for that address. Avatars will appear next to your name on your personal profile, the rosters of your organizations, in staff searches, and will be integrated into the StuAct Online 2 site redesign coming in mid-January.
