High School Leadership Conference Hosting

High School Leadership Conference (HSLC) is a conference that provides a chance for 120 high school juniors and seniors to come to Texas A&M and learn more about leadership through workshops, speakers, and small group discussions. It is our hope that these students can then take what they have learned and apply it at their high school, in their hometown, and on into their future college careers.

The conference is November 13-15, and we need volunteers to be on-campus hosts.  One of the greatest opportunities for involvement for any on-campus Ag is hosting.  The conference cannot happen unless we have volunteers to host the high school students.  You have an opportunity to win prizes, give back to the university, and show some high school students the selfless heart of an Aggie.  It really is not too much of a time commitment and your duties as a host would entail:
  • Submitting a Host Contract and a Host Background Check Form
  • Attending a host meeting prior to the conference
  • Providing housing to two delegates in your dorm room for two nights
  • Follow rules set by both Texas A&M University and HSLC
The high school delegates will be picked up by you late both nights and dropped off by you early the next morning- it’s that simple.

The Host Contract and Background Check forms need to be filled out for the safety of the high school students as well as for liability reasons on your and our part. We hope to have a successful conference this year, and in order to do that, we need your full cooperation.
Please go to http://hslc.tamu.edu/node/29 to fill out the host contract and turn it into a secured lock box labeled High School Leadership Conference (HSLC) in the Student Activities department in the Koldus building.
