QPR Suicide Training

In just two hours you can learn how to help save someone's life! Do you know what to look for? What

to say? How to help?

Please note:  If you cannot attend one of these sessions, or if you want a training session just for you department, office, or A&M affiliated group go to the Student Counseling Service website http://scs.tamu.edu , and click on the QPR logo.

DID YOU KNOW…·

Suicide is the second leading cause of death for college students.·  Within a few days or weeks before a suicide attempt, people almost always give clues that they are considering suicide.  Professors, advisors, co-workers, fellow students, friends and family can help to save a life from suicide if they recognize the warning signs and know what to do.

Would YOU know what to look for...what to say or do?

The 2-hour QPR Gatekeeper Training class teaches you how to identify, help, and refer someone who may be depressed or considering suicide. QPR Training is provided FREE to the A&M community by the Student Counseling Service, and only Texas A&M University –College Station campus faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students may attend.

Training times and dates are listed on the Student Counseling Service website at http://scs.tamu.edu , then click on the QPR logo. There is also information on how to request a QPR training session for your department, office, or campus-affiliated group. This year we are especially targeting Graduate Faculty, Graduate Advisors, and Graduate Students (especially graduate students who teach or mentor other students) as well as undergraduate students who are in a leadership or mentoring role. Feel free to forward this email and attachment, and you can print the attached flyer for posting or other distribution across campus. Email QPR@scs.tamu.edu if you want more information.
