
Social Justice WeekThe Leadership and Service Center in the Department of Student Activities invites you to attend Social Justice Week, March 24-28, 2008. Social Justice Week will include several events to increase awareness for students and other members of the Texas A&M community about various local and global social issues and what they can do to initiate change. Social Justice Week will include the following events:
Monday, March 24: Global IssuesScreening of Invisible Children, followed by discussion and reflection, 6:00-8:00 p.m. in MSC 225.
Tuesday, March 25: Education“Education: Equalizer or Tranquilizer?” presented by Dr. Carol Albrecht from the Department of Sociology, 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in MSC 225.
Wednesday, March 26: HomelessnessPanel Discussion with Community Agency Representatives, which will include Steven Bethea, Homeless and Housing Services Program Director at Twin City Mission; Eric Fisher, HUD Housing Program Case Manger at Twin City Mission; Wynne Clark, Executive Director at Twin City Mission; Alsie Bond, Chair of Brazos Valley Homeless Coalition for City of Bryan; and Kate Mason, of MHMR, 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in MSC 206, lunch will be provided.
Thursday, March 27: DiversityArchie Bunker’s Neighborhood presented by the Department of Multicultural Services, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. in Rudder 510.
Friday, March 28: Taking ActionChildren’s Book Donations and banner signing at Think Globally, Act Locally, 12:00-5:00 p.m. in Rudder Plaza.
Monday-Friday: How to Get InvolvedAgencies will provide resources and volunteer information, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. in the MSC Hallway.
