Gilbert Leadership Conference

The Gilbert Leadership Conference gives approximately 30 freshmen the opportunity to develop themselves as leaders, to network and interact with one another, and to understand the opportunities that are available to them in their time at A&M. The conference focuses on character, service, and involvement, as well as helping to better the student body of Texas A&M. The conference is named after David Gilbert, a student leader from A&M who made the most of every opportunity given to him in his freshmen and sophomore years. The intent of the program is to encourage freshmen to maximize their leadership experience at Texas A&M, just as David Gilbert did.

The Big Event

The Big Event is the largest, one-day, student-run service project in the nation where students of Texas A&M University come together to say ‘thank you’ to the residents of Bryan and College Station. For the past 25 years Aggie students have participated in this annual event to show their appreciation to the surrounding community by completing service projects such as yard work, window washing, and interior/exterior painting. Although The Big Event has become the largest one-day, student-run service project in the nation, our message still remains the same – simply “thank you.”
