Conference on Extended Orientation Programs

The Texas A&M Extended Orientation and Involvement Team and the Texas A&M Extended Orientation Programs (Howdy Camp, Fish Camp and Transfer Camp) will be hosting a Conference on Extended Orientation Programs Friday, November 21 - Sunday, November 23, 2008 on the Texas A&M University College Station campus.

This conference is geared specifically toward advisors and students who work with extended orientation programs, which are unique in the programming they provide for incoming students. A conference of this type was hosted by Texas A&M in the Fall of 2003 and by Stephen F. Austin State University in January 2008 with great attendance results and collaborative partnerships formed.  We hope to build upon the successes of the past conferences and work this year to broaden the reach of these programs.

As a result of attending the Extended Orientation conference, attendees will:
  • Recognize the difference in the programs represented, but also recognize their areas of commonality.
  • Have the opportunity to network and share resources related to Extended Orientation programs, including best practices and challenges.

Schedule of Events Includes:

  • Round table discussions
  • Presentations by various schools
  • Keynote speaker
  • Skit competition
